FROM THE STRIP
Hello all. From the looks of the strip tonight it seems that conventions are raising the numbers of guests this week. Although that sounds great, the gaming revenue may not change at all. Remember, this blog is for the good news and the bad, but we can still be optimistic! Now for some recent updates.
SIGNS OF A RECOVERY
According to Richard N. Velotta with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and a report by the American Gaming association, "gaming revenue from non-tribal casinos rose 3% to $36.5 billion in 2011." Velotta also say's that according to AGA President and CEO Frank Fahrenkopf Jr., "while it may be slow, the recovery of the national commercial casino industry is well underway!
NO BANKRUPTCY FOR LAS VEGAS MONORAIL
According to Steve Green with VEGASINC., the Las Vegas Monorail is now in a position to emerge from bankruptcy as it's lastest reorganization plan is feasible. Green says that U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Bruce Markell gave the green light as it will now have $13 million in debt as opposed to $45 million with a prior plan.
