SOME GREAT SPRING NEWS!
FLIER COUNT UP AT MCCARRAN
Hello all and I hope that you all had a great start to the week! The weekend was restful and I'm happy to be back at the blog. I'll be posting on the weekends as well pretty soon. As for Spring and the month of March, there is great news! According to Tim O'Reiley with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the passenger counts for McCarran International Airport were up 2.5 percent over the same month just a year ago. O'Reiley said that the 3.65 million passengers for the month of March was in part due to the recent trend of upstart airlines that filled the gaps of longtime market leaders.
O'SHEA'S IS ALL DRIED UP!
O'Sheas had their last toast today as guests cheered the closing at noon! I know this seems a bit funny, but there is about to be a major remodeling of the property to make way for Project Linq. The word was "a-buzz" today at work as many of my co-workers had made their last visit to the casino. The closing and remodeling is no secret and it's amazing how many people had talked about it.
According to Howard Stutz with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Project Linq will be a $550 million retail, dining, and entertainment development which will include a 550 feet observation wheel. I thought it funny that the cost matched the size of the wheel. Nevertheless, this is another step forward for the strip, Las Vegas, and business as a whole.
